One of Trails through Daybreak's cooler additions was orbal movies. Throughout the game, you can invite party members to watch movies for a boost in Connect EXP. They're also a nice way to further flesh out the world and give the player a sense of Calvardian culture. And of course, Falcom didn't miss this chance to add in a movie about Mishy.
The movie, which appears to be some mix of drama, suspense, and horror, is about a kid who gets his hands on a magical Mishy plushie. This plushie, being sentient, asks the boy to give him clothes in hopes of becoming a real person, and in exchange, grants wishes.
All is well and good between the two for a while... but it becomes evident that the kid has been overtaken by greed, and finds ways to keep denying or delaying Mishy's requests for clothes. Mishy eventually gets fed up, and while we never see the aftermath, seemingly attacks the boy.
I would pay good mira to watch this shit, man. Whoever's running the Mishy brand in-universe has some balls to allow enough creative freedom for horror re-interpretations like this. We had to wait until Winnie the Pooh entered public domain before filmmakers could experiment with demented recreations. Not that Blood and Honey was actually good, from what I heard, but I like that it exists.
Hell, even the Mishy fans in-universe like it, if Elaine and Renne are anyone to go by.
While I don't think they'd all be interesting, I'd also totally be down for these in-universe movies to be defictionalized in some way, perhaps as animated shorts. Go for the ones that star Judith or Nina, and even bring in their real life VAs. You might even be able to make a miniseries out of Glora: Dawn of the Revolution, and cover the events of the Calvardian Revolution that way. With any luck, it might be better than the much-reviled Trails of Cold Steel Northern War anime.
Where was I? Ah, yes. Horror Mishy movie. Falcom, pls give.
